Thank you for vistiting! Lynn McGinnis Consulting Herbalist 330.347.8231 330.345.5088 | There are many options that you can choose from to stay healthy and/or improve your overall health. I'd like to help you find what works for you! My Herbal passion includes Nature's Sunshine products; Watkins products; and Vitamin Power products to compliment the herbal remedies I create myself such as teas, tinctures, extracts, capsules, supplements, etc. all made from herbs without fillers, processing and 'shelf aging' which deteriorates the herbs/supplements being used. I've completed my Consulting Herbalist Certificate program at Clayton College of Natural Health. It has been an enlightening experience to complete the education successfully and it has left me very hungry for more information and research. Why herbs, vitamins & supplements? Because I personally know the struggles and frustrations caused by becoming ill and not having a quick diagnosis or answers on what to do to make yourself feel better. The long waits at a physicians office and/or hospital for appointments and test after test, multiple surgeries plus accumulating billings become absolutely exhausting! Through lots of frustration, hours of research, studying as well as many experiments, I have found that my personal diagnosis can be controlled with herbs and through diet instead of costly medications that can cause nasty side effects that require more medication to counteract and/or resolve. I have celiac disease (an auto-immune disease which makes my body intolerance to gluten which is a protein found in most grains) as well as other food allergies such as corn, peanuts, honey -which includes beeswax, thus limiting the products I can use .... I've been doing a lot of in depth research and correspondence with various companies to purchase products without wheat, gluten and corn in them, including personal care products and cosmetics. I am growing more knowledgeable with each conversation I have and with each page I read. If you or someone you know has food issues and/or allergies, please don't hesitate to contact me, I'll be glad to grab my computer & notes to share what I know and/or do some additional legwork as needed. Currently I volunteer my time as the group leader for Dunlap Hospital's (Wayne County, Ohio) Celiac Information and Support Group which meets at Dunlap Community Hospital in Orrville, Ohio on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. ~ learning and sharing each month with these wonderful people is encouraging and educational! To better help those around me and to keep on top of any updates or alerts realted to gluten free living I am a member of Celiac Disease Foundation and Celiac Sprue Association. I offer training and seminars as well as being a GREAT Guide for Ohio through National Foundations for Celiac Awareness. Additional Gluten Free tips, tricks and information including support group details can be obtained on this website by clicking this link: Visit Gluten Free Living ! Recently (mid 2009), I've created a Chapter within Mary Janes Farm called Gluten Free Farmgirls ... Being a Farmgirl is a "condition of the heart" ... Gluten Free Farmgirls is a place to talk and share about Gluten Free living whether it be questions, advice, tips, tricks, recipes, events in your area, etc. You don't have to be celiac or gluten free to join in - join us if you have someone in your family that's celiac/gluten free, someone close to you that is celiac/gluten free or if you'd just like to learn more. Click on the tab to the upper left and find out more! I also have Sarcoidosis (sar"koi-do'sis); my lungs, lymph nodes, sinus cavities and eyes are affected. Sarcoidosis involves inflammation that produces tiny lumps of cells in various organs in your body. The lumps are called granulomas because they look like grains of sugar or sand. These tiny granulomas can grow and clump together, making many large and small groups of lumps, as many granulomas form in an organ, they can affect how the organ works or doesn't work thus causing symptoms and issues. Sarcoidosis can occur in almost any part of your body, although it usually affects some organs more than others including the lungs and lymph nodes and almost always occurs in more than one organ at a time. Sarcoidosis has an active and a nonactive phase: In the active phase, the granulomas form and grow. In this phase, symptoms can develop, and scar tissue can form in the organs where the granulomas occur; In the nonactive phase, the inflammation goes down, and the granulomas stay the same size or shrink. But the scars may remain and cause symptoms. The course of the disease varies greatly from person to person. The doctors have no known cause for Sarcoidosis nor is there a cure, they treat each person and symptom as it arises. Sarcoidosis is not a form of cancer nor can you catch it from someone else; it was once thought to be an uncommon condition, but seems to be becoming more common as the years pass and more studies are conducted.
