Living Gluten Free and doing it Mary Jane Style!
Be a part, Join Gluten Free Farmgirls!
I've started Gluten Free Farmgirls to raise awareness about Celiac Disease, to share tips tricks and recipes, to help anyone who is struggling with a gluten free diet, and to learn from those much more knowledgeable than me.
If you're gluten free or have anyone in your life that is you know it can be a struggle and a half! BUT, it doesn't need to be that way! It's simply a bump in the road!
I've been Celiac since 2001 - I'm group leader for one of our local Hospital's Celiac Information Group and I attend 4 of the surrounding group meetings as often as I can each month ... there is a wealth of information out there whether it be on the disease, on great pre-made items to choose from, where the best prices are and/or tips on how to bake it yourself (which, to me, normally tastes better anyway!) A little more about me can be found under the tab to the left "meet the herbalist" or under the other bio marked Weedy Ways at: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/HenHouseSnitz/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=226 , if you'd like to read more -
ANYONE is welcome to join Gluten Free Farmgirls, become a member of the chapter and let's have some fun! Fill out a member bio at the following link:( http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/HenHouseSnitz/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=226 ) with some information you'd like to share and then send me an e-mail (WeedyWays@yahoo.com) that you did a bio and we'll get some additional information from you, your ideas, projects and topics moving - It's a goal we can work at together, awareness is the key to knowledge when it come to Celiac Disease and gluten free living!
This adventure is meant to be fun and helpful for all of us. It a place where we share common grounds and values. JOIN IN! I'll keep you posted on events around me (Northeast Ohio) as I know about them and you can post events around you ... who knows who is traveling, planning to move or just looking for a celiac/gluten free event.

Happy New Year !! Happy and Safe eating !!
Mary Janes Farm Magazine has a great insert for Organic Gluten Free Valentine's Day!
Be sure to get your copy and/or check out the website for details!
Gluten Free is not a fad, it won't go away and there are more of us living with it everyday! As we stick together, share tips and talk more it becomes easier for each of us to cope. Remember, each one of us is different in the way gluten takes hold of us and each one of us has varying degree of complications from gluten.
If in doubt, go without! Don't eat or use it if you are unable to verify the ingredients and/or cross contamination factors are favorable. Once gluten is consumed damage to the small intestine occurs, whether or not symptoms are present.

Time has been flying by!
It's a beautiful summer day here in Ohio ... the temperature is hot and the humidity is moderate, the sun is shining and the farmer's market was amazing this morning downtown! My purchases included: yellow squash, yellow zuchinni, zuchinni, red and white onions, cherry tomatoes as well as a nice slicing one, red and green cabbage, blackberries, bluberries and some green beans. I am starving right now, so I'm excited to get into the kitchen soon!
Anyone Gluten Free and willing to travel to Columbus, Ohio should check out Nationwide Children's Hosptial website for their annual Celiac Conference on November 7, 2009. For the small cost of the registration it's an entire day of priceless information, recipes, fun and shopping - gluten free style! It's always a good time to see people you know, meet new people and enjoy being in one place that is gluten free without worries - eat, learn, laugh and be happy!!!
A week ago I was at the Medina County Fair with Watkin's Products ... many people were interested in gluten free and there were several with children who have recently been diagnosed Celiac. I handed out many brochures and talked a lot so I hope that a little more awareness is out there and someone's life has been made a little easier.
Have a wonderful weekend and safe eating!
