Experiement with different spices in your cooking, you'll be amazed at the differneces in flavor you can create and just maybe you'll be cooking a bit more healthy by not needed to add as much salt or sugar as before, the flavor will be true!!
BAKING POWDER
1/3 C. Baking Soda
2/3 C. Cream of Tartar
2/3 C. Arrowroot or Potato Starch
Mix well - use 1 1/2 tsp. of this mix for each 1 tsp. of commercially produced.
CHOCOLATE SUBSTITUTE
~ equivalent to 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate.
1 T Watkins Chocolate Extract + 1 T Shortening
COLE SLAW DRESSING
2/3 C. Sugar
½ C. Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ C. Oil
1 tsp. Celery Seed
Mix Well, Toss with Shredded Cabbage.
FLAVORED COFFEE
Watkins Extracts are excellent for adding that “coffeehouse” touch with a variety of flavors. Add a teaspoon (more for stronger flavor) of our many famous extracts to coffee grounds before brewing.
GRILLING PASTES ~ Combine your favorite Watkins spices with heart healthy Grapeseed Oil to creat your own signature grilling paste – here’s a few tried and true to get you started…
Parsley & Pepper
5 Tbsp. Watkins Grapeseed Oil
1 Tbsp. Watkins Sea Salt, ground
1 Tbsp. Watkins Black Pepper
1 Tbsp. Watkins Parsley
Curry & Cloves
5 Tbsp. Watkins Grapeseed Oil
1 Tbsp. Watkins Curry Powder
1 Tbsp. Watkins Cumin
1 Tbsp. Watkins Cloves
Cumin & Red Peper
5 Tbsp. Watkins Grapeseed Oil
1 Tbsp. Watkins Cumin
1 Tbsp. Watkins Red Pepper Flakes (decrease for less heat to suit tastes)
MAPLE SYRUP
1 cup Sugar + 1 cup Water
Boil then add ¾ tsp. Watkins Maple Extract
QUICK MAPLE SYRUP
1 tsp. Watkins Maple Extract + 1 cup Corn Syrup
WATKINS COOKED PLAYDOUGH
2 Cup Gluten Free Flour Mix
1 Cup Salt
2 Tbsp. Watkins Cream of Tartar
2 ½ Cup Water
¼ tsp. Watkins Food Coloring Color of Choice
1 Tbsp. Watkins Grapeseed Oil
Watkins Extract of Choice ~ anise, peppermint, almond, strawberry, orange, mango, banana, coconut
Combine dry ingredients in a saucepan – add water, oil, extract and food coloring.
Heat, stirring constantly unit dough comes away from the pan and forms a ball.
Cool.
Divide in half, knead 10-12 times until smooth.
Store in plastic bag or container in refrigerator.
Keeps for months ~ makes 4 cups.
CRACKER MUNCHIES
¼ Cup Watkins Grapeseed Oil
2 Tsp. Watkins Snack & Dip Seasoning ~ many flavors to choose from ~ experiment with different flavors – but REMEMBER if you're follwing a Gluten Free diet, choose your Snack and Dip Seasoning accordingly!!
1 Pkg. (10 oz.) Bite Size Gluten Free Crackers .......... GF Pretzels will also work well.
Mix Oil and Snack & Dip Seasoning.
Pour over crackers/pretzels and mix well.
Spread into shallow baking pan – bake 375 for 5 to 8 minutes.
Stir once during baking.
STUFFED MUSHROOMS ….. Easy – great for appetizers or party snacks !!
Whole Cap Mushrooms (approx. 24)

8 Oz. Cream Cheese – softened
Chives ..........
Remove stems from mushrooms
Brush mushroom caps with Grapeseed oil
Stir Snack & Dip Seasoning into Cream Cheese
Fill Mushroom with Dip Mix
Bake 350 for 10 – 15 minutes.
Remove from oven, sprinkle with chives.
SALAD DRESSING
1 C. Olive Oil
½ C. Apple Cider Vinegar
Dash of Garlic Pepper
1 tsp. Parsley
¼ tsp. Brown Rice Syrup (check ingredients to ensure it is gluten free)
¼ C. Water
Combine and shake well. Keep refrigerated
